Farm & Producer Notes:

Federación de Sociedades Cooperativas Cafetaleras de la
Sierra Madre FC de RL (FEDESI)
, nestled in the heart of Chiapas, Mexico, is a cooperative union that represents the dedication and spirit of six coffee groups scattered across various municipalities. Situated amidst the majestic Sierra Madre mountains, FEDESI's farms flourish at high altitudes ranging from 1,000 to 1,900 meters above sea level. This elevated terrain imparts a complexity and richness to the coffee, evident in every cup.

Each lot of coffee is cultivated with meticulous care—hand-picked and transported to local mills where it undergoes a thorough washed process. This includes sorting, weighing, pulping, washing, and drying, ensuring that only the best quality beans make it to production. Despite their small size, with most producers managing about 3 acres, each group operates its own wet mill and drying patio, underscoring their commitment to quality and self-sufficiency.

FEDESI proudly produces a significant volume of 32,000 bags of Fairtrade Organic coffee annually, a testament to their sustainable practices and the profound connection they maintain with their land and community. This cooperative not only offers a glimpse into the vibrant coffee culture of Chiapas but also supports small producers in making a big impact in the world of coffee.
